Chopped Homemade Week 4
We did a chopped homemade week 4. We were going to do another round of him picking 2 items and I pick 2 items one of mine was to be premade. But as we were getting ready to go get our items his Aunt shows up and said she was having car troubles would Earl come take a look. I picked all 4 items and Earl made dinner.
1 pound of hickory smoked bacon
1 packaged of lemon tarts
11 ounces of baby spinach
1 package of fresh lasagna sheets
15 ounce ricotta cheese
2 tablespoons Italian seasoning
Juice and zest of 1 lemon
1/8 teaspoon chili flakes
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
1 jar of garlic alfredo sauce
What he did
Per-heat oven to 350 degrees. Cut ½ pound of bacon into lardons (small pieces) and cook until crispy remove from pan. Add all of the spinach into the bacon fat and sweat down remove from pan and drain. Mix the bacon (save a small amount to put on top), spinach, lemon cream from the tarts, ricotta cheese, Italian seasoning, juice and zest from lemon. Butter a 6 by 10 inch pan spread some sauce on the bottom add 1 sheet of pasta then 1/3 of the spinach mixture then some alfredo sauce. Keep doing this until the spinach mixture is used up with a sheet of pasta on top. Top that with the last of the alfredo sauce sprinkling the reserved bacon on top with a couple pats of butter. Bake for 30 minutes.
This was good but we both agreed that mushroom’s, onion and more chili flakes would have improved the overall flavor.
